The Science
We didn't guess. We formulated.
Every ingredient in Love Muscle is chosen for a reason backed by published research. No fillers. No marketing fluff. Just the science on what actually works — and why it's in the can.
The Ingredients
What's in the can. And why it works.
Our key ingredients and the science behind it.

BLG-Enriched Whey Protein Isolate
The highest-value fraction in whey — chosen for a reason.
β-Lactoglobulin (BLG) is the dominant protein in whey, making up roughly 50–55% of whey protein content. It's the fraction most strongly associated with muscle protein synthesis due to its exceptionally high leucine content and rapid digestibility. Not all WPI products are enriched for BLG but ours is. That's a meaningful difference in what actually reaches your muscles.
- All 9 essential amino acids — including leucine, the key trigger for muscle protein synthesis
- ~90%+ protein purity — more of what works, less of what doesn't
- Rapidly absorbed post-exercise. Unlike collagen, WPI directly supports muscle repair at a cellular level.
- BLG enrichment concentrates the highest leucine-density fraction — clearing the ~3g leucine threshold for maximal MPS stimulation

Trimagnesium Citrate
One of the most bioavailable forms of magnesium — not the cheap stuff.
Magnesium citrate is significantly better absorbed than magnesium oxide - the cheapest and most commonly used form in powder & tablets. The citrate molecule acts as a carrier, improving dissolution and intestinal absorption. Up to 50% of New Zealanders don't hit their daily magnesium target. Nesium makes supplementation frictionless - replacing a drink you were already going to have.
- Contributes to normal muscle function and electrolyte balance
- Supports normal energy-yielding metabolism and reduction of tiredness
- Magnesium citrate consistently outperforms oxide on bioavailability in comparative studies
- In aqueous form — no dissolution step required, consistent absorption every time

Trisodium Citrate
The electrolyte form used in sports science — not table salt.
Sodium is the primary extracellular electrolyte responsible for fluid balance across cell membranes. Without it, water passes through rather than being absorbed at the cellular level. Trisodium citrate is the form used in sports rehydration science and clinical oral rehydration therapy - gentler and more functional than sodium chloride, with a mild buffering effect that supports both hydration and recovery.
- Drives water into cells — not just through your digestive system
- Functional sodium, not processed-food sodium
- Same form used in WHO oral rehydration salts
